INTERIOR DESIGN CONCENTRATION
Associate of Arts degree in Merchandising and Design
Interior design students at Wade College develop analytical and reasoning skills as well as the ability to conceptualize, develop, and present designs. A concentration in interior design includes studio instruction on computer-aided drafting, space planning, textiles, materials and systems, and design of interior spaces. Interior design students are introduced to design history, construction and finishing materials and technology, furnishings, lighting, building codes, and professional practices. Students also communicate design information in freehand and perspective drawings as well as renderings.
Our interior design courses help students develop multifaceted viewpoints of design techniques, expertise and professionalism. The interior design program includes projects that address a wide range of behavioral, environmental, decorative, and technical issues. It includes two courses in computer-aided drafting and design using facilities equipped with individual workstations with connectivity to color laser printers and scanners and online access to databases and the Internet.
All graduating interior design students will produce a finished professional portfolio and participate in the Wade College Professional Portfolio Critique. Interior Design students are also given the opportunity to share their talent by participating in design competitions and various art shows held throughout the year.
