2nd Annual Artopia
Wade College was the official college sponsor of Artopia at the Dallas Contemporary on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011. The event was attended by well over 1,000 people and Wade College was well represented. Beth Bray and Jennifer Stock, alumni, designed the interiors of the event. Jacob Fitzhugh, chair of Interior Design, constructed one-of-a-kind lighting that replicated the colleges “ink splat” logo. A twenty-foot wide art installation was executed by art students under the direction of Design Division Director, Jason Reynaga and Professor Nicholas Parker. Maple Avenue Boxing Gym graciously loaned a pair of boxing gloves from the two-time world champion, Jesus Chavez, for the art wall. Additionally, several Wade College students and alumni from the fashion concentration contributed to the fashion show: Kaleigh Sevey, Women’s Ready-to-Wear; Brydric Wright, Men’s Ready-to-Wear; Fey Ayeni, Formal Wear; and Beverly Williams, Costuming. Graduate, Davya Dyce, marketing manager at the Dallas Galleria, produced the fashion show. The college also hosted a booth with college marketing pieces and additional student work. Current students volunteered their time to assist the Dallas Observer with sponsor tables and in the runway production. One of the photographers for the event was Kasey Harding, also a Wade College graduate.
