New Bachelor of Arts Degree
At its December 2010 meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Commission on Colleges for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredited Wade College at a more advanced degree level, allowing the college to grant baccalaureate degrees.
To quote the college President, Harry Davros:
“The college’s Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff are extremely excited about the new Bachelor of Arts degree program; the new program is a direct result of feedback from alumni and students requesting additional instruction in the areas of merchandising and design. We feel this is a testament to the outstanding value the college brings to its student body.
We have also received tremendous support about the new program from industry leaders who see the effectiveness of the college’s current program and services. They believe the baccalaureate degree will further enhance our graduates’ preparedness for a career in the merchandising and design fields.”
While decades of Wade College graduates have experienced tremendous career growth in the fashion and related lifestyles industries, the appetite for additional training and evolving technological skills have given associate degree holders a purpose to pursue further specialized education. Curriculum was developed by former executives from Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren, Eveden Intimates, among other experts in the fields of art, interior and graphic design, fashion, marketing and merchandising. The program will address the shifting areas of industry including trend forecasting, multichannel retailing, branding, social media marketing, and management.
