Pamela Harrelson – Chairperson

Teaching Experience:
Professor Harrelson has eighteen years of college-level teaching experience including Design Fundamentals, Layout and Conceptual Design, Conceptual Typography, Life Drawing, Observational Drawing, Illustration, Portfolio, and all graphic design courses via Adobe computer applications at SACSCOC – accredited Level II institutions.

Professional Experience:
Professor Harrelson has thirty-three years of experience as a graphic designer, art director, creative director, and illustrator including: as a Self-employed designer/illustrator since 1987, Creative Director at Market Point, Senior Art Director at Coconut Grove Productions, Art Director at Bloom Too/SRB Advertising, Jr. Art Director at The Collateral Group and Asst. Art Director at Reed, Melnichek, Gentry and Associates.

Recognitions/Honors/Community Service/Professional Development:

  • Practicing professional fine artist since 2010 
  • Scholarship awarded for travel to Germany and Austria 2010 given by Texas Woman’s University
  • Scholarship awarded for fine art in 2003 given by Texas Woman’s University
  • Participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions for fine art
  • Several Silver Illustrator awards given by the Dallas Society of Illustrators
  • Certificate of Merit given by the Dallas Society of Illustrators

Diana Souza

Teaching Experience: Professor Souza has ten years of undergraduate college-level teaching in Design, Illustration, Adobe software, Photography, Sustainable Design at Level II accredited SACSCOC and Middle State institutions and an additional four years of graduate-level teaching in Building & Leading Creative Teams, Design Thinking, Creative Problem Solving, and Collaboration from a Distance.

Professional Experience:
Professor Souza has forty years of experience in graphic design and art direction including as owner of Design/Illustration/Art Direction/Photography (30 years); Illustrator/designer of books & book covers for The Crossing Press, New York (6 years) and Editorial illustrator on the staff of New Orleans’ metro newspaper The Times-Picayune (3 years).

Recognitions/Honors/Community Service/Professional Development:

  • Chair of Visual Communications, the Green Party of Texas / 2015
  • Guest speaker at Fine Arts Summit, Region 10 Education Service Center / 2014
  • Guest speaker at Sustainability Summit, Dallas County Community College District / 2014
  • Guest speaker at Dallas Camera Club, presenting a retrospective of photography / 2013
