NEW BOOKS
The library receives new books on a regular basis. Visit the new book shelf located behind the librarian’s desk near the front entrance.

MAGAZINES
In addition to books and electronic resources, the library offers a large selection of magazines. The majority of titles support the college curriculum, and provide a wealth of information in a variety of subject areas. Current issues of magazines are displayed in the reading area. Back issues are found in plastic bins on the shelf.

Magazines are to be read in the library only.

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES
The library at Wade College offers a myriad of electronic resources. Search in any of our electronic databases or simply browse our online personal access catalog. You are sure to find the information you seek. All the electronic resources can be accessed either at the library or from the convenience of your own home. Librarians are here to assist you in all your research needs.

Concourse OPAC. Concourse is the college's Integrated Library System provided by Book Systems, Inc. It's available for students to access both on campus and remotely. The system allows for searching the library's online catalog.  All library titles can be searched by author, title, subject, or a combination of search terms. This is useful for confirming that the library has a specific book or DVD.

LexisNexis Lexis/Nexis Academic is a web-based database providing access to over 6,000 full-text news, business, and legal publications including full-text of more than 350 U.S. and international newspapers, 300 magazines and journals, broadcast and political transcripts, polls and surveys and individual college papers. In addition, business resources include: financial data; company profiles; medical information from journals and newsletters; country and state profiles; and the World Almanac. Deep archives of hundreds of regional and national newspapers can be found here. This is one of the world's premier databases and is a treasure trove of information.

WGSN Fashion Network. Do you want information on the latest trends in the fashion industry? This is the database for you! Its primarily focused on the fashion, design, apparel, style, and retail industries, with intersecting developments in consumer behavior, economic conditions and the environment. WGSN also furnishes career information and interviews with top-level buyers. It also offers show information, and events all around the world. WGSN allows users to browse over four million images as well.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Academic The Encyclopedia Britannica Academic is perhaps the most well known and authoritative database around. It's a great resource for finding brief encyclopedia entries on virtually any topic. Not only is it useful in finding general information on various subjects, it includes world data, an atlas, and an assortment of maps, biographies of famous people, news, classics, and much more. This database also allows functions that give comparisons of countries, timelines, and quotations. Also included are is a Webster's Dictionary and a thesaurus.

ProQuest Entrepreneurship ProQuest Entrepreneurship is a web-based database with a wealth of information on starting your own business, the study and practice of entrepreneurship, and those who want business-related information. It offers market research data and reports from journals, magazines, video clips, and reviewed e-books. Company profiles can also be searched. Also included are how-to guides and forms to assist her with developing business documents, over 7,300 full-text annual reports, over 500,000 articles, more than 14,200 business blogs, business guides and forms, more than 300 full-text business cases with 500 more indexed, conferences and proceedings, over 32,000 market research documents, over 1,600 full-text journals and magazines, more than 9,100 video clips, and 550 business dissertations.

CAMIO The Catalog of Art Images Online is one of the most image-centered databases available today. Constantly updated, it includes over 95,000 art images, photographs, paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, watercolors, jewelry, costumes, textiles, and architecture- plus audio, video and mixed media images.  This database allows users to access decorative and art images from leading museums, including the Smithsonian Museum, Dallas Museum of Art, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Asia Society Galleries, Brooklyn Children's Museum, and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Grove Art Online
Since 2005, Grove Art Online has included images of the most frequently studied works of art. Oxford Art Online offers users the ability to access and search the vast content of Grove Art Online and Oxford Art references in one location. The database offers access to more than 23,000 subject entries, 21,000 biographies, 500,000 bibliographic citations, 40,000 image links, and 5,000 images. Through partnerships with major organizations such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Bridgeman Art Library, the British Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), it offers searchable and embedded art images, maps, and line drawings, and thematic guides, and timelines of world art. Also included in the database are the Oxford art dictionaries containing more than 45,000 articles. All sources are fully searchable.

Safari
All 8,000 full-text Safari book titles are available online in PDF format and available for downloading in complete book format or selected chapters. Topics of the collected titles include technology, business, creativity, software and management from publishers that include O'Reilly Media, Peachpit Press, Adobe Press, and Addison-Wesley. Content is continuously refreshed to provide the users with the most current information.

Internet. The world-wide web is available on all library computers.

Electronic Collections Online: Collection of electronic books.

GPO: Includes congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records.
MEDLINE: Medical information. Limited full text availability.
OALster: Digital texts, images, movies, and datasets. Limited full-text availability.
OCLC EBooks: Catalog of online electronic books available through libraries worldwide.
OCLC PapersFirst: Information on symposia and conferences.
OCLC ProceedingsFirst: Conference proceedings.
World Almanac: World-related and statistical information.
Worldcat: World's largest network of library content and services.
WorldCat Dissertations and Theses: Dissertations and theses papers in OCLC member libraries.

INSTRUCTOR RESERVES
Students may be required by instructors to read an article from a reserved book. These books are shelved behind the librarian’s desk. Reserved books are not textbooks, but rather a library book or a book from the personal collection of the instructor. Students are required to sign for reserved books. The books are not allowed to leave the library. Articles may be copied at the student’s expense.

LIBRARY COMPUTER LAB
Students may conduct research and write papers in the library computer lab. This separate room, adjoining the library, offers several computers and a copier machine. The service is free to students and alumni.

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS
For those who prefer their own laptop, wireless Internet access is available on campus. The access code is posted in the library lab.

AREA AND SURROUNDING PUBLIC LIBRARIES
Many public libraries are available throughout Dallas and the surrounding area. The librarians are eager to assist with your educational endeavors, or just for leisure reading. EVALUATION OF WEB INFORMATION
Information on the web can be overwhelming. Millions of articles on every subject imaginable are available at our fingertips. Anyone can publish articles on the worldwide web without validation of content. How can you evaluate which facts are appropriate and which are not? Help is available for those who want it.
