Student Organizations

To support the college’s mission of providing students with experiences that enrich their lives both culturally and socially, the following activities are available at Wade College. These organizations complement the classroom experience by providing students with the opportunities to develop intellectual, humanitarian, and leadership skills. In addition, participation in student organizations offers networking opportunities while in college and after graduation.

Merchandising and Design Student Association
The Merchandising and Design Student Association (MDSA) is a professional student organization which helps to broaden students’ interest and knowledge of the world of merchandising and design. MDSA provides an in-depth view of exciting professional opportunities in the merchandising and design fields. Membership is open to all students interested in fashion design, graphic design, interior design, and the merchandise marketing concentrations. Each trimester, officers are elected to organize and guide the activities of the group. MDSA takes learning beyond the classroom through organized activities, such as field trips, guest speakers, special events, career building workshops, and community service efforts. In addition, members are eligible to apply for market job opportunities, internships, and attend the annual Career Day program sponsored by Fashion Group International. Any student wishing to join must complete a membership application, take an active role in the group’s activities, abide by the set guidelines and procedures of the group, and be in good academic and financial standing with the college.

Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is an international honor society that students are invited to join. Any student who earns a GPA of 3.5 or above during their first trimester and is recommended by the faculty may be invited. A student cannot become a member of PTK by attaining the required GPA after any trimester except their first. In addition, members must maintain a 3.0 GPA and have good attendance to remain a member. PTK members provide help to students who request tutoring, they complete community service projects, and they are given unique scholarship opportunities.
