Graphic Design Program | Graphic Design Courses

The concentration in graphic design encourages creativity while emphasizing strong technical and presentational skills. Students gain a background in design history and theory and then may experiment and develop their own design approaches. The concentration in graphic design includes design history, theory, and current graphic design practices and technology. Students learn to design advertising campaigns, logos, compact disc and other packaging, posters, publications, web page layout, and more. Graphic design students also learn about the printing process and produce material for their portfolios.

Graphic design courses at Wade College are taught in a graphics lab/studio using the latest hardware and state-of-the-art software, which is continually updated. Classroom facilities include personal computers equipped with connectivity to color laser printers and scanners and online access to databases and the Internet. Students improve their technical and conceptual skills while developing a personal creative vision. Students graduating from the graphic design program express their design philosophies in a finished portfolio presented during the Wade College Professional Portfolio Critique. Additionally, students may showcase their work in various art contests and competitions.
