Working Market
One of the benefits of having the college in the Dallas Market Center is that it allows students to have exposure to the businesses and activities of one of the world's largest wholesale marketplaces. Students not only have the opportunity to view these activities, but many also obtain jobs during the seasonal markets that are held in the facility throughout the year, and thus actually participate in the business of the Market Center. Market jobs are regularly posted on the Wade College Job Board and are available to both current students and alumni in good standing. For a list of upcoming markets, follow this link.
Part-time Employment
Dallas is a vibrant city with a booming economy. Opportunities for employment are plentiful. Local part-time job leads are available to assist students seeking work within the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Many of these positions are located in the Dallas Market Center complex or in close proximity of the college-sponsored housing. North Park Mall, Valley View Mall, and the Galleria afford retail opportunities for students and are located near the college campus. Many employers are willing to accommodate student schedules.

On-Campus Workshops and Professional Guest Speakers
Various career-oriented workshops are also offered to assist students with different aspects of career preparation. Past topics have focused on business card creation, methods of job search, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, networking, business etiquette, self promotion, dressing for success, public speaking, and many more topics related to professionalism. Professional guest speakers are regularly invited to Wade College to offer inspiration, advice, and share their experience about what it takes to be a professional person succeeding in the merchandising and/or design fields. Workshops and guest speaker lectures are open to all students and alumni to expand their knowledge base of up-to-date industry practices and standards.
On-Campus Interviews and Professional Portfolio Critique
Wade College attracts wholesale and retail corporate recruiters and executives to campus to review resumes and portfolios and to interview students. Through on-campus interviews, employers are able to select students to fill full-time and part-time positions, market positions, and internships.
Graduating students are given a chance to hone their job-search skills in the Portfolio Design and Presentation class. In this capstone class, students are given the opportunity to assimilate all that they have learned while at Wade College; the final product will be a professional portfolio showcasing the work they have done while a student at Wade College. All students, regardless of concentration, will produce a portfolio suited to their needs. At the conclusion of the trimester, graduating students present their portfolios to a panel of industry professionals at the Professional Portfolio Critique and receive constructive feedback for additional preparation for real-world presentations and employment.
